This document provides our community with an overview of the school’s 2016 performance in relation to our academic achievement, attendance, student behaviour data and financial matters. Another occasion is on our Student Free Days, such as the ‘Challenge-based Learning’ session last week when our teachers learnt gained a deeper understanding of contemporary strategies to co-construct realworld learning experiences that develop future work skills and inspire students to be curious, courageous, resilient global citizens.

Professional Learning Teams (PLT’s) on Wednesday mornings, for example, is a valuable opportunity for teachers to collaborate to improve their pedagogy and explore a line of inquiry in the areas of Positive Education, Challenge Based Learning (including STEM) and Differentiation. As part of our commitment to enhancing student learning experiences our teachers engage in a range of professional development activities to improve practice. Consolidating partnerships to promote innovation and connectedness. These priorities include: Improving student achievement and engagement through targeted teaching and learning practices Strengthening a culture that empowers students to be resilient and to flourish. 2017 Site Priorities Aligned to our school vision and pursuit for continued improvement and excellence, we have identified three key priorities for 2017 that will inform our work. We are currently awaiting the final report and will share further commendations and recommendations with our school community. From this intense process our feedback has been very positive and the visiting team have commended our school community for our strong improvement focus, which has driven substantial changes. These CIS visitors reviewed all aspects of our school ranging from our vision to our facilities, from our personalisation and rigour of our teaching programs to the quality of teaching and learning in our classrooms, from our policies to our financial and governance operations, as well as interviews with staff, students, parents and Governing Council members.
Early in March our school was involved in the Council of International Schools Preparatory Visit, which involved two visitors undertaking a rigorous, external review of our school to ensure we continue to meet the high international standards and identify new areas for action. Council of International Schools (CIS) At Norwood Morialta High School we have a strong commitment to continuous improvement and we are proud to have the internationally recognised Council of International School (CIS). I invite you to view these recent activities highlighted in this newsletter that support our students to flourish in their learning and development as global citizens. These activities include: competing in Sports Day enjoying excursions to the Clipsal SRC elections and leadership training, successful participation in the Head of the River Rowing Regatta, Greek community lunches (on each campus), along with International Women’s Day and Harmony Day celebrations.
As we approach the end of a very busy and rewarding first term, our students have engaged in many diverse activities.
